The Hearts Behind HoneyBee

I have worked with children my entire life! There is no better feeling than a hug from a child. Children are pure, free from the influences of society and show total LOVE. I have 3 children of my own… they are my "WHY". I was a teacher for over 32 years and always had a dream to own my own preschool. I am surrounded by the light that children bring to the world. I am committed to creating a legacy to be proud of. "All our dreams can come true if we have the courage to pursue them." — Walt Disney

I retired, in January 2000, after 35 years as a Federal employee. I relaxed for a year and then began my second, and most rewarding career. In September 2001, I began teaching 4, 5, and 6-year-old children using Maria Montessori's theories and ideologies. To be honest, I never thought I would get such tremendous joy in teaching young children and seeing the wonderment on their faces when they learn something new and are able to accomplish a task. The more excited they get, the more eager I become, and I can give them so much more to learn. This is my most rewarding career, and I feel myself getting younger, and smarter, as my years progress.

I have always had a passion for working with children and I believe that early childhood is a crucial stage of their development. The opportunity to be a part of their growth, activities and lessons is incredibly rewarding. The children also help me to increase my imagination and creativity. I have worked at other centers, but Our HoneyBee Academy is the best. It is a safe, loving and nurturing environment.

Being a mother that has raised 5 children of my own, this opportunity has given me the chance to do all the things I've loved with my own. I get to laugh with them, nurture them and be a part of the growing process all over again and that gives me joy. My favorite time of the day is singing during circle time. I love seeing the children learn new things. It makes me just as happy as they are!

I have spent my entire career as a pre-school assistant. I am dedicated to the well-being and enrichment of young people. I have an Associates Degree in Arts from Harlem College.
